Baku-APA. One NATO soldier was killed Wednesday when Taliban launched a coordinated attack against a base in eastern province of Ghanzi, the ISAF confirmed early Thursday morning, APA reports quoting Xinhua

"Enemy forces attacked a forward operating base in eastern Afghanistan yesterday with a suicide vehicle-borne improvised explosive device, indirect fire and small arms fire killing one ISAF (International Security Assistance Forces) service member," the NATO-led ISAF said in a statement.

However, it did not reveal the nationality of the victim under the ISAF policy.Troops mainly from the United States and Poland have been stationed in the Ghazni city within the framework of ISAF.

Militants numbered four to six launched a coordinated attack against the base after midday in Ghazni city, the provincial capital of Ghazni, 125 km south of Afghan capital Kabul.

At least seven Afghans were killed and 58, including seven Polish soldiers, were wounded as a result of the Taliban's suicide bombings and ensuing gunfight on the base.

Also on Wednesday, four Afghan civilians and one foreign soldier were killed and 15 civilians were wounded in a suicide car bombing against an ISAF motorcade in southern Helmand province, some 555 km southwest of Kabul.

The latest casualties bring the number of foreign soldiers killed in Afghanistan to 121 this year.
