Baku-APA. The Israel Defense Force (IDF) boosts Monday its deployment in the West Bank city of Hebron, after a Palestinian shooter killed yesterday an Israeli soldier, a spokesperson with the IDF confirmed to Xinhua.
A curfew imposed on Hebron last night right after the shooting was lifted Monday morning, the spokesperson said.
"Right now, scans for the terrorist are narrowing in the inner neighborhood of Hebron," the spokesperson added.
An emergency meeting called by Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon would be held late Monday during which the officials would discuss on the Israeli response to the killing of Tal Kobi on Sunday and Tomer Hazan whose body was found Saturday near the city of Qalqiliya in northern West Bank.
Hazan was abducted and killed by Nedal Amar, a Palestinian, who intended to trade his body for his brother who serves a 30-year sentence for his involvement in attacks against Israeli citizens.
Thousands of Jewish visitors and worshipers came to Hebron on Monday to mark the Jewish holiday of Sukhot. A large number of IDF and border police troops are securing the event.
A few hours after the shooting on Sunday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to "strengthen settlement" and said that he had "ordered immediate actions" to allow Jewish settlers to return to a disputed house in a Palestinian neighborhood in Hebron, a move to expand the Jewish areas in the West Bank city.
Several Israeli ministers called for halting the resumed peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians and stopping to release Palestinian prisoners as part of the negotiations.
