He is the first Iranian athlete killed in Syria. His funeral will be held in Iran’s Chalus city.
Meanwhile, Iranian media reported on Dec.9 that seven Iranians were buried in Qom. Their identities and the places where they fought haven’t been made public. They are believed to have been killed in the fighting against IS militants.
In the recent months, over 50 officers and soldiers of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps have been killed in Syria.
