Tehran. Suleyman Farzaliyev - APA. The Iran-Turkey intergovernmental commission will hold a meeting in the near future in order to discuss and resolve issues that hinder the development of relations between the two countries, said Eshaq Jahangiri, Iran’s first vice president.
He made the remarks during a joint press conference with visiting Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu in Tehran on March 5, APA’s Iran bureau reported.
Jahangiri said the two sides are determined to boost annual trade to $30 billion.
“Turkey is the main target for Iranian tourists. More than a million Iranians travel to Turkey per year. Of course, we do hope that Turkish citizens too travel to and invest in Iran,” he noted.
Jahangiri stressed Davutoglu’s visit to Iran, saying that this visit may be a turning point in bilateral relations.
“Iran and Turkey are neighboring countries that have always had high-level relations in different areas. After the Justice and Development Party (AKP) came to power, relations between the two countries saw notable progress. The common interest of Iran and Turkey is to restore security and stability in the region,” he said.
