A number of important issues should be solved in order to fully agree on the legal status of the Caspian Sea, they are problems regarding security, use of the water surface of the Caspian Sea, use of the mineral resources of the Caspian Sea, distribution of the seabed, use and protection of biological resources,” Azerbaijan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov said addressing the 33rd meeting of the working group on the legal status of the Caspian Sea, APA reports.

Khalaf Khalafov said it is a priority for the Caspian littoral states to agree and adopt the draft treaty on the use and protection of biological resources.

“I hope the 33rd meeting will give an impetus to the determination of the legal status of the Caspian Sea,” he said.
