According to him, the aim is to efficiently use regional transit potentials: “If this railway is opened for transit transport, a significant development will be observed in the border regions of all three countries, as well as the region. The war between Azerbaijan and Armenia caused economic collapse in Julfa. Railway between Azerbaijan and Armenia has a strong potential. This railway makes it available to access to Russia and Europe through the Black Sea”.
Akbar Torkan also noted that Iran believes that the regional problems will be solved in a political way and through the cooperation of countries: “Solution of regional problems will pave the way for the development and prosperity of the region”.
