Baku-APA. The attack took place in Dayalachak of frontier Kathua district, about 313 km south of Srinagar city, the summer capital of Indian- controlled Kashmir, APA reports quoting Xinhua.
"This morning militants wearing army uniforms stopped a Bolero car and fired at the passengers sitting inside it. One person was killed and three others were wounded in the attack," said a police official at police control room in Jammu. "The militants are reported to have hijacked the vehicle and fled the spot."
The wounded civilians according to police have been shifted to a government hospital in Jammu.
An alert have been sounded in the area.
There are fears that militants might use the hijacked vehicle to storm Indian army camp or police station in the restive region, police said.
The attack came a day after Indian's prime ministerial hopeful Narendra Modi addressed an election rally in Hiranagar town of the district.
Last year 12 people including Indian army troopers and policemen were killed after militant disguised as Indian army troopers first attacked a police station and later on stormed an Indian army base in Kathua and Samba districts.
A guerrilla war is going on between militants and Indian troops stationed in Indian-controlled Kashmir since 1989. The gunfight between the two sides takes place intermittently across the region.
