The UN Security Council called for an inclusive political process in Syria based on the fundamental principles of resolution 2254, it was sated in a statement issued by the UN Security Council, APA reports.
The members of the Council reaffirmed their support for the efforts of the UN Secretary-General's Special Representative for Syria, Geir Pedersen, to facilitate this process.
The statement stressed the need for a process that meets the legitimate aspirations of all Syrians, protects them and allows them to determine their future peacefully, independently and democratically. The Council also reaffirmed its commitment to the principles of sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity of Syria and called on all States to respect these principles.
