Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, who is on a visit in Pyongyang, met with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, APA reports citing Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).
Russia's defence minister accompanied North Korean leader Kim Jong Un to a defence exhibition named "Weaponry Exhibition-2023" that featured the North's ballistic missiles.
According to KCNA, Kim "expressed his views on the issues of mutual concern in the struggle to safeguard the sovereignty, development and interests of the two countries from the high-handed and arbitrary practices of the imperialists and to realize international justice and peace".
The leader of North Korea and the Russian defense minister held a separate meeting on the same day (July 26) where they discussed defense issues. KCNA reported that both sides reached a "consensus" on the issues discussed. KCNA also reported that Defense Minister Shoigu gave Kim Jong-un a letter from Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The international media also mentions the possibility that North Korea will discuss giving weapons to Russia at the meeting.
