South Korean health authorities stated on Saturday that the country has reached a new record high in daily COVID-19 deaths with 80. The overall death toll currently stands at 4,210, APA reports citing Teletrader.
The number of daily cases dropped below 7,000 after reaching a fresh high on Wednesday. The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency reported there have been 6,977 infections in the last 24 hours, bringing the total since the start of the pandemic to 510,538. South Korea also registered 12 cases of the Omicron variant since Friday. The country has identified 75 cases of the new variant so far.
