"The foremost priority is restoring trust and reconciliation between peoples," Hikmat Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, said at a special session on "The Language of Peace and Combating Disinformation" held within the framework of the "Baku Culture and Media Dialogue Platform," APA reports.
The Presidential Assistant stated that this is the most important and difficult part of any post-conflict period:
"For example, we are also studying other post-conflict periods. Let us look at the situation in the Balkans. In the early 1990s, all conflicts were resolved, but mistrust still exists among the countries of the region.
We must also be very honest in the Armenia-Azerbaijan context. There are some dark chapters in our history of shared memories with the Armenian people. We do not erase this past, but we look towards the future through peace."
