Hikmat Hajiyev: Artificial intelligence and social media make it difficult to find the real truth

"Artificial intelligence and social media make it difficult to find the real truth," Hikmat Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, said at a special session on "The Language of Peace and Combating Disinformation" held within the framework of the "Baku Culture and Media Dialogue Platform," APA reports.

The Presidential Assistant stated that disinformation and misinformation are not new phenomena:

"Disinformation and misinformation are becoming part of a hybrid strategy. We must examine this in the context of all fundamental principles. When the rules of international law were established, the principle of non-interference in a country's internal affairs was envisaged. This referred to physical interference. Now, it is possible to interfere in a country's internal affairs even without physical intervention. Therefore, this principle must be reconsidered.

We have established our own system to prevent disinformation against Azerbaijan. We had appealed to an international court regarding a report recently published by CNN against our country. Artificial intelligence plays a role in disinformation. Today, the dissemination of misleading information into the global agenda also has a negative impact on this."
