The new Syrian authorities have set the task of building a free economy in the country, Minister of Economy and Resources in the interim government, Basel Abdul Aziz, stated, APA reports citing TASS.
"We intend to transition from a socialist economy <…> to a free and competitive economy that will benefit everyone," he was quoted as saying by the Syrian newspaper Al Watan. The new authorities expect the private sector, as well as Syrian businessmen currently abroad, to contribute to increasing the country's economic development, the minister noted.
