The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated that no decision has yet been made regarding the sixth round of talks with the United States, said Esmail Baghaei, spokesperson of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at today’s press conference, APA reports.
Baghaei noted that Iran will announce the date and location of the sixth round of talks with the U.S. at the appropriate time in order to resolve differences over Tehran’s nuclear program.
"At the moment, I have no information for journalists regarding the sixth round of talks. If a decision is made, it will be announced later," the Iranian Foreign Ministry official said.
According to him, Iran will convey its proposal to the United States through Oman:
"Any plan that does not take into account the interests and rights of the Iranian people – whether in the field of peaceful nuclear energy, including uranium enrichment, or in terms of lifting illegal sanctions – is unacceptable. As soon as we finalize our proposal, we will convey it to the other side through Oman. It is, of course, in the interest of the United States to seriously consider this offer," he added.
Note that representatives of Iran and the United States held the fifth round of talks on May 23 in Rome to resolve differences over Iran’s nuclear program. Omani Foreign Minister Badr Al-Busaidi, who mediated between the parties, stated that "certain, but not final" agreements were reached.
On June 1, the White House announced that U.S. Special Representative Steven Witkoff had sent Iran’s authorities a "detailed and reasonable" proposal regarding Tehran’s nuclear program.
According to Axios, the proposal envisions that Iran may continue to enrich uranium to a low level for a period that would be determined later.
On June 7, U.S. President Donald Trump said that Iran must not enrich uranium, otherwise Washington will respond with consequences.
