Hakan Fidan: Crisis in international system has put our region to one of its greatest tests

“Our region is facing one of the greatest tests in its history,” said Türkiye’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan at the opening of the 5th Antalya Diplomacy Forum, APA’s correspondent dispatched to Türkiye reports.

“The world is simultaneously facing numerous risks. As President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has also said, the biggest problem is disorder, and there is a greater need for diplomacy. The crisis in the international system has confronted our region with one of the greatest tests in its history,” Hakan Fidan added.

According to Türkiye’s Foreign Minister, the international community must immediately intervene and call for the resolution of conflicts through negotiations.

“Today, we see that a certain understanding is being formed in the international arena towards stopping the war. In order to ensure regional stability, we must increase our efforts through dialogue and diplomacy,” Hakan Fidan added.

In his speech, Hakan Fidan also touched upon the Russia–Ukraine war. He noted that the conflict, now entering its fifth year, is shaking Europe’s security architecture and the global balance: “Syria, Lebanon, and most recently Iran have dragged our region into a broad vortex of confrontation.”
