Group of Seven (G7) foreign ministers vowed to intensify sanctions against Russia over its war in Ukraine as they wrapped up their meeting in Japan on Tuesday, APA reports citing Associated Press.

“We remain committed to intensifying sanctions against Russia, co-ordinating and fully enforcing them,” the communique said, and would support Ukraine “for as long as it takes”.

"Ukraine's anti-corruption and domestic reform efforts must continue, and we will support them," it was noted.

Top diplomats from Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and the United States, plus the European Union also condemned Russia's decision to station nuclear weapons in Belarus as "unacceptable".

The G-7 leaders reiterated that Russia must withdraw all forces and equipment from Ukraine immediately and unconditionally.

"We will reinforce our coordination to prevent and respond to third parties supplying weapons to Russia and continue to take actions against those who materially support Russia," the communique read.
