Imran Khan arrest News Live Updates: Two days after Pakistan's former Prime Minister Imran Khan was arrested by an anti-graft agency on corruption charges, the Supreme Court ordered his immediate release on Thursday, calling his arrest 'unlawful' and 'illegal'. Imran Khan appeared before the Islamabad high court on Friday amid tight security arrangements, APA reports citing India Today.
He was granted bail in an incitement to violence case by an anti-terror court till May 23. Khan's arrest triggered massive protests across Pakistan with his supporters going on a rampage, destroying government buildings and establishments, prompting the police to clamp prohibitory orders. Nearly 2,000 people were arrested and at least eight killed, following which the government roped the army to help restore order. Meanwhile, thousands of Pakistanis will gather at Srinagar Highway G-13 Islamabad today at 10 am to express solidarity with PTI chief Imran Khan.
