A Gaza hostage deal and ceasefire is closer than it has ever been before, a senior Hamas official and Defense Minister Israel Katz said on Monday, APA reports citing The Jerusalem Post.
"We are closer than ever to reaching a prisoner exchange deal and a ceasefire, provided that Netanyahu does not obstruct the agreement," the official told the Saudi news outlet Asharq on the condition of anonymity.
Later, Katz would confirm the statement, saying, "We are closer than we have ever been since the previous deal," during a discussion in the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, according to Israeli media reports.
