Tehran supports keeping the Strait of Hormuz always open and secure, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Saeed Khatibzadeh told journalists, APA’s correspondent dispatched to Antalya reports.
“The Strait of Hormuz has been part of our internal and territorial waters for millennia. We have always clearly stated that, as a guarantor of stability, we want this strait to remain open and safe,” Khatibzadeh said.
The deputy minister accused the United States of pursuing a policy of pressure against Iran and emphasized that this creates security risks.
According to him, although Iran supports diplomacy, the US continues its pressure policy: “They believe coercion and pressure are the solution. For us, diplomacy is part of the solution. War benefits no one, and diplomacy must prevail.”
He also noted that the United States is trying to use negotiations as a “tool of tension”: “Unfortunately, they want to prolong diplomacy and turn it into a kind of ‘show.’ We believe diplomacy is part of the solution.”
