China's Foreign Ministry condemned Thursday the recent meeting between United States House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (pictured right) and Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen , APA reports citing Xinhua.
According to the ministry, China will respond with "resolute and effective measures," while adding that McCarthy's move seriously broke the US commitment to China on the Taiwan issue.
China's reply comes just after McCarthy and Taiwan's leader declared they had a productive meeting. Besides that, both parties stressed that Washington should continue to sell arms to Taiwan.
