Baku-APA. The Syrian government said here on Friday that it will work hard to make the mediation mission by Kofi Annan, the UN and Arab League joint special envoy for Syria, "successful", APA reports quoting Xinhua.
Bashar Ja’afari, the Syrian permanent representative to the United Nations, made the statement to the press here shortly after Annan briefed the UN Security Council in a closed-door meeting on his recent visit to Syria, which has been in a serious political crisis for a year.
"Annan ensured the Security Council that the Syrian government is engaged in order to make his mission successful," Ja’afari said.
"On behalf of the Syrian government, I ensure you that we will make Annan’s mission successful," he added.
