Palestinian killed in fresh Israeli raid in Gaza

Baku-APA. At least one Palestinian was killed in a fresh Israeli raid in the Gaza Strip Friday afternoon, witnesses and medical sources said, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

Another Palestinian was wounded when several artillery shells landed in eastern Gaza City. The dead and the wounded were taken to a hospital. Doctors said the dead was 22-year-old Mohammed Enaya and the wounded received moderate injuries.

The Israeli attacks resumed Friday, wounding at least one Palestinian when a missile hit a training site for the armed wing of Islamic Hamas movement, which controls Gaza. His condition was not immediately known.

Israeli helicopters also attacked militants in a car near a training site in the west of Gaza city. The gunmen managed to escape the attack, the sources said.

Early Friday, at least seven Israelis were wounded when Palestinian militants fired Grad and locally-produced Qassam rockets into southern Israel. The rockets were fired from Gaza. The attacks continued throughout the afternoon.

Friday’s violence comes a day after unidentified militants carried out a series of coordinated attacks in southern Israel’s Red Sea resort of Eilat, killing eight Israelis.

Israel responded by attacking a house in Gaza, killing four senior militants and a civilian. Another civilian was killed in another round of airstrike.

Gaza’s Hamas rulers denied any involvement in Eilat attacks, and said that the attackers did not reach the area through Sinai, which borders Gaza and Eilat.

Ahmed Bahar, deputy speaker of the Hamas-dominated Palestinian Legislative Council, called on the international community, mainly Egypt and Turkey, to intervene and press Israel to stop its operations in Gaza.
