Baku-APA. A senior Iranian lawmaker said that Iran may shut down the British embassy in Tehran, local satellite Press TV reported on Wednesday, APA reports siting Xinhua.

Iran’s Majlis (parliament) will seriously pursue the issue of shutting down the UK embassy in Tehran in case the "violent crackdown on British citizens" continue, said Mahmoud Ahmadi Bighash, a member of National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of Iran’s Majlis.

Ahmadi Bighash also called on Iran’s Foreign Ministry on Tuesday to summon the British charge d’affaires in Tehran "as soon as possible" for explanations about the police shootings at the youth, said the report.

British Prime Minister David Cameron Wednesday launched a strong verbal attack on rioters after a fourth night of rioting in the country.

Cameron promised he would not "allow a culture of fear to exist on our streets" after the rioters spread the arson, looting and violence to English cities.

Cameron outlined a broader range of options for police, indicating legal support for "every action necessary to bring order to our streets."

Iran’s Foreign Ministry advised Iranian citizens on Wednesday to defer nonessential travel to Britain, citing intensifying unrest in the northwestern European country, semi-official Mehr news agency reported.

In the travel alert, the ministry also recommended that Iranian nationals residing in Britain not attend the scenes of unrest.
