Israeli troops open fire on Lebanon

Baku-APA. The Israeli military has opened fire on a military base in the Wazzani border area in southern Lebanon, prompting the Lebanese army to fire back, APA reports quoting Press TV.

At least one Lebanese national has been wounded in the Monday incident, a Press TV correspondent reported.

The incident has prompted a state of alert in the Lebanese army.

However, the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) said shortly afterwards that the situation in Lebanon’s border with Israel is under control.

In August 2010, two Lebanese soldiers, a Lebanese journalist and an Israeli officer were killed in a cross-border clash.

Lebanon’s President Michel Suleiman has recently said his country has the right to regain control of all its territories currently under Israeli occupation through legal means.

The Lebanese resistance movement of Hezbollah, which defended the country during Israeli aggressions, has vowed to respond to any new Israeli incursions.
