4 wounded in explosion in S. Philippines

Baku-APA. Four people were wounded Saturday evening when an improvised explosive device (IED) exploded in southern Philippines, police said, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

Philippine National Police spokesman Senior Superintendent Agrimero Cruz Jr. said that an 81 millimeter IED exploded at Starlight Videoke Bar along the national highway in Buenaflor village, Tacurong City of south Philippine’s Sultan Kudarat province at around 8:30 p.m.

Wounded victims were identified as Glaiza Juan, 19; Noraya Laguia, 24; Sorayda Tabon Lagya, 28; all residents of South Cotabato, and Elenita Molan Alesna, 34, of Apopong in General Santos City.

The victims were brought to a nearby hospital as investigation is ongoing, Cruz said.

"Witnesses reported that an unidentified person left the place and sped off towards the direction of Isulan, Sultan Kudarat," he said.
