Baku-APA. Kyrgyzstan and Russia will hold political consultations this summer on the upcoming Kyrgyz presidential election, Kyrgyz President Roza Otunbayeva said Thursday, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

Otunbayeva reached an agreement to hold such consultations with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Astana, Interfax reported by quoting Otunbayeva’s speech at a press conference.

"Russia and Kyrgyzstan will hold political consultations during the summer in connection with the upcoming presidential election," she said.

The Russian president wanted to acknowledge the political situation in Kyrgyzstan and what was going on in the country ahead of the election, Otunbayeva said.

Several delegations are expected to arrive in Bishkek for talks this summer, the Kyrgyz president said.

During the press conference, Otunbayeva also said that Kyrgyzstan lacks funding for the presidential election, which is expected to cost more than 10 million U.S. dollars. "The country’s budget will not be able to cope with it," she said.

Otunbayeva said she did not rule out that Kyrgyzstan would have to "seek donors’ assistance" for the election.
