Baku-APA. Officials say at least 15 people in Pakistan’s Khyber tribal region were killed in an oil tanker fire after the vehicle carrying fuel for NATO forces in Afghanistan was rocked by a bomb, APA reports quoting voanews.com website.

Authorities say the people were trying to collect fuel from the bombed tanker when the fire broke out and killed them early Saturday.

Earlier in the same region, at least 14 NATO supply trucks were set on fire when a bomb struck one of the vehicles. Officials say no one was hurt in that attack.

No group has claimed responsibility, but the Taliban has claimed such attacks in the past.

Most supplies and equipment required by foreign troops in Afghanistan are shipped through Pakistan.

On Friday, the Taliban claimed responsibility for bombing a U.S. consulate convoy in Peshawar, killing one person and wounding 11 others.

Pakistan has seen a surge in militant violence since U.S. special forces killed Osama bin Laden in his compound not far from the capital Islamabad this month.
