Baku-APA. Red Bull’s Mark Webber of Australia has claimed his fifth pole start of the year for Sunday’s Belgian Grand Prix – the 13th Formula One auto race of the year, APA reports quoting voanews.com web-page.
It is Webber’s first pole start since June in Turkey. Red Bull has won the pole in 12 of 13 races this season, but has only six victories between Webber and teammate Sebastian Vettel of Germany.
With intermittent rain falling, Webber clocked the quickest qualifying time of 1 minute, 45.778 seconds Saturday on the 7.004 kilometer Spa-Francorchamps Circuit. He edged McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton of Britain by less than one 10th of a second.
With four victories this season, Webber has won two of the last three races. His victory in Hungary earlier this month moved him to the top of the drivers’ championship standings and dropped Hamilton into second place. The McLaren driver has two wins this season.
Starting from the second row Sunday are Renault driver Robert Kubica of Poland and Vettel, who qualified third and fourth.
Reigning world champion Jensen Button of Britain was fifth for McLaren. He will share the third row with Brazilian Ferrari driver Felipe Massa, who qualified sixth.
The Belgian GP’s Spa-Francorchamps Circuit is a favorite among the Formula One drivers because of its fast, long track.
