Prominent Azerbaijani artist Togrul Narimanbekov buried in Paris - <span style="color: red;">PHOTOSESSION

APA's Europe bureau reports that the funeral was attended by his family members, representatives of Azerbaijani Embassy in France, Azerbaijani Diaspora Organization in France and Azerbaijani students.

 

Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Nazim Samadov and Chairman of Azerbaijan Union of Artists Farhad Khalilov expressed condolences to his family on behalf of Azerbaijani government and people. Wreaths have been laid on the grave of the artist on behalf of Azerbaijani President, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Azerbaijani Embassy in France and Azerbaijan Union of Artists.

 

Note that the laureate of the USSR State Prize and People's Artist of Azerbaijan, individual pensioner of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Togrul Narimanbekov died at 83 on June 2. The second wife of the deceased wanted him to be buried in France. However, his daughter Asmar Narimanbekova opposed it. She demanded to bury her father in Azerbaijan and appealed to the French court in this regard. Court has passed a judgment to bury him in France. An appeal filed against judgment has been rejected.

 

The Passy Cemetery was established in 1820 and is located in the centre of Paris on the right bank of the Seine near the Champs-Élysées. Famous political and cultural figures, including well-known painters Édouard Mane and Berthe Morisot, composers Claude Debussy and Gabriel Fauré, Leila Pahlavi, daughter of the Shah of Iran and others were buried at this cemetery.
