Azerbaijani director Rufat Asadov has presented two new films in Israel – "The Paths of Our Love" and "My Friend Meir," APA reports.
The first screening of "The Paths of Our Love" took place in Afula, Israel, with the support of the State Committee on Diaspora Affairs of Azerbaijan and the Afula Municipality.
The film tells the eternal love story between an Ashkenazi Jew of Azerbaijani descent and a Muslim Azerbaijani woman, while also celebrating the friendship between the peoples of Israel and Azerbaijan. The protagonists, Mikhail and Yegana Salman, now living in Israel, are active diaspora members who have contributed significantly to strengthening Azerbaijan-Israel relations.
The next screening was held on April 2 in Jerusalem, organized by the Jerusalem City Library and the Azerbaijan-Israel International Association.
On April 3, Asadov’s second film, "My Friend Meir," was presented in Kiryat Byalik, hosted by the Municipality and the "Sholumi" Cultural Center.
The film highlights the deep love and loyalty of Mountain Jews for Azerbaijan, their homeland, where they were born and raised. It also showcases their preserved traditions, customs, and spiritual values in Azerbaijan.
The story centers on Meir Manashirov, a resident of Müjü-Həftoran village in Azerbaijan’s Ismayilli district.
At the end of the screening, Rufat Asadov was presented with an official letter of appreciation from the "Preservation of Mountain Jews' Cultural and Historical Heritage" Center and the Kiryat Byalik Municipality for his contribution to cultural preservation.
