Three-day International Mugham Symposium to be organized within the framework of 1st International Mugham Festival in Azerbaijan
Garayev said three large events would be organized within the framework of the 1st International Mugham Festival, which would begin with the three-day symposium and developed with the International Mugham Contest. “Today final concert of the mugham contest will be organized. The winners will participate at the International Mugham Contest within the International Mugham Festival. Representatives of 12 countries have already confirmed their participation and we are preparing their schedules nowâ€.
The minister said art figures, mugham performers and singers under 35 would participate at the International Mugham Festival. “They will be awarded with high-level prizes. The best-known scientists and intellectuals of the world, representatives of UNESCO and ISESCO will attend the festival. All members of UNESCO Non-Material Cultural Heritage Commission will attend the events. Their participation is very important for us. The guests will attend the festivities in Baku on March 20 together with the republican leadershipâ€. Garayev said Novruz Holiday would be presented to the UNESCO Cultural Heritage List in this period. “We will present Ashug music and Azerbaijani carpets to the UNESCO Heritage as wellâ€.
According to the Minister of Culture and Tourism, serious preparations for the 1st International Mugham festival have already started. “The preparations are going on for several months. Three large events will be organized within the festival. The Mugham Festival will be opened at the International Mugham Center. Two concerts will be held a day during the festival. Mugham performances will be organized in the Azerbaijan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater, Azerbaijan State Philharmonic Hall and Musical Comedy Theater. We will present the mugham world in all cultural centers throughout the country on March 18-25 and large public community will have an opportunity for entrance to these concerts. Tickets for all concerts within the festival will be available for the large audience at the booking officesâ€. The Minister of Culture and Tourism said 150-200 well-known musicians, scientists and representatives of the different international organizations expected to attend the festival.
