Azerbaijani officials commemorate Uzeyir Hajibeyli on National Music Day

Baku. Ulkar Rashidgizi â€“ APA. Today is a National Music Day in Azerbaijan. APA reports that Azerbaijani Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfas Garayev, Rector of the Baku Academy of Music, Professor Farhad Badalbayli, Chairwoman of the Composersâ€™ Union, Peopleâ€™s artist Firangiz Alizadeh, Head of â€œThe Azerbaijani community of Nagorno Karabakhâ€ Public Union Bayram Safarov, cultural and art figures visited great composer Uzeyir Hajibeyliâ€™s grave in the Alley of Honors on the National Music Day.

Speaking at the event, the Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfas Garayev mentioned about Uzeyir Hajibeyliâ€™s contributions to Azerbaijani music and said that his heritage and works are decently protected and continued. According to the Minister, the 4th International Music Festival will open in Baku today, on the National Music Day. The festival will last for 10 days. Several famous musicians from many countries will attend the festival.

Grandiose concerts are planned within the festival. Chains of events will be held in the regions and abroad on the National Music Day. 18 September is the birthday of irreplaceable images of Azerbaijan Uzeyir Hajibeyli, Muslim Magomayev and maestro Niyazi. Today, we commemorate them again.

Chairwoman of the Composersâ€™ Union, Peopleâ€™s artist Firangiz Alizadeh noted the significance of 2012 for the union. The chairwoman said that the congress of the union will be held this year and that preparations are being continued. Firangiz Alizadeh spoke about Uzeyir Hajibeyliâ€™s services for Azerbaijani music and underlined that at present, his works are being continued decently.

Azerbaijan State Choir Capella performed the â€œShabi-hijranâ€ composition of famous composer Uzeyir Hajibeyli in front of his monument. The participants also visited the graves of other famous musicians buried in the Alley of Honor â€“ Rashid Behbudov, Muslum Magomayev, Gara Garayev and Tofig Guliyev. Then they coommerated Heydar Aliyev and Zarifa Aliyeva.

The event was continued in the yard of the Art Museum. The participants visited the monuments of Uzeyir Hajibeyli, Natavan and Bulbul. The Minister Abulfas Garayev expressed his hope that these monuments will be returned Shusha soon: â€œThese shot monuments are proofs of Armenian vandalism. Insallah, we will see these monuments in Shusha again.â€
