Azerbaijan and Italy to sign contract on finding and studying manuscripts about our country

Azerbaijan and Italy will sign a contract on finding of Azerbaijani manuscripts and bringing them to the country, Director of the Department of Information and Translation of the Institute of Manuscripts of the Azerbaijan. National Academy of Sciences Farid Alakbarli told APA.

According to him, an international conference on the Eastern manuscripts will be held in Napoli, Italy in December, 2012, which will be organized by the Napoli University. The study of Azerbaijani manuscripts, compiling catalogs and their publication abroad will be discussed there: â€œAzerbaijan and Italy scientists will cooperate in finding manuscripts and bringing them to the country. Even Italian scientists are interested in Eastern manuscripts in Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan and Italy will sign a contract on finding and studying manuscripts about our country, because we have certain cooperation with Italy.â€

Alakbarli said that there are numerous Azerbaijani manuscripts in Italy: â€œThere are hundred manuscripts on Azerbaijan in Apostle library and Vatican secret archives. The most interesting manuscripts were brought to the country. But there are large libraries both in Rome and Venice and Florence. There are numerous manuscripts on Azerbaijan in these libraries. On rough calculations, there are more than 1000 manuscripts on Azerbaijan in these librariesâ€
