Farewell ceremony for Azerbaijanâ€™s well-known opera singer, peopleâ€™s artist of the USSR Firangiz Ahmadova held in Baku - <font color=red>UPDATED</font>

According to Deputy Prime Minister Elchin Afandiyev, Ahmadova was one of the famous persons of Azerbaijanâ€™ culture: â€œF. Ahmadova had an unexampled services in development of opera. National and human colours made unity in her activity. On one hand, she played the characters of Nigar, Sevil, Gulzar, on the other hand, she played the characters of Aida, Toska. Ahmadova was an unexampled opera singer in Azerbaijanâ€.

Peopleâ€™s Artist of Azerbaijan Janali Akberov said that, today, Nigar, Sevil of our scene parted with us: â€œThis is a great loss for our national music culture. Iâ€™m so glad that, Iâ€™ve worked with this person. I witnessed her activity, beautiful character during 30 yearsâ€.

Peopleâ€™s Artist of USSR Fidan Gasimova noted that, F. Ahmadova had left traces in vocal profession: â€œItâ€™s so hard to believe her death. She had a beautiful, lyric, romantic, soprano voiceâ€.

Note that, Firangiz Ahmadova passed away on February 16, at the age of 83.

Ahmadova was born in Baku on September 23, 1928. She graduated from Azerbaijani State Conservatorium in 1955. She was a soloist of Azerbaijani Radio Chorus in 1946-1951, and State Opera and Ballet Theatre in 1951-1988.

She performed in the operas of Azerbaijani, Russian and Western composers.

Her main roles are Nargiz, Gulzar (â€œNargizâ€, â€œShah Ismayilâ€, M. Magomayev), Nigar (â€œKorogluâ€, U. Hajibeyli), Sevil (â€œSevilâ€ F. Amirov), Sariyya (â€œAzadâ€ J. Jahangirov), Sona (â€œBahadir and Sonaâ€, S. Alasgarov), Maro (â€œDaisiâ€, Z. Paliashvili), Aida (â€œAidaâ€, G. Verdi), Tosca (â€œToscaâ€, G. Puccini) and etc.

She performed the romances of Azerbaijani and Russian composers (P. Chaykovski,S. Raxmaninov, S. Taneyev and etc).

Ahmadova has worked as a pedagogue in the Opera and Ballet Theatre. She was deputy of the USSRâ€™s Supreme Soviet (4th convocation) and Azerbaijani SSR Supreme Soviet (5th convocation), as well as awarded â€œShohratâ€ order.
