Azerbaijani musicians achieve success at the International Festival of Young Musicians “Kaunas 2010”

Baku. Ulkar Gasimova-APA. Azerbaijani musicians have participated at the International Festival of Young Musicians “Kaunas 2010”, press secretary of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism Zohra Aliyeva told APA.
Every year, the International Festival of Young Musicians receives talented children aged 16 and under, who already have considerable experience at taking part in concerts and competitions. The usual format of the festival is six or seven concerts, with the opening and closing evenings featuring the participants playing with the Kaunas Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Pavel Berman (violin, Italy). The International Festival of Young Musicians has invited young performers, their teachers and listeners to Kaunas. This event is aimed at everybody who fosters human values and feels concerned about the education and aesthetic training of the young generation of performers. In 1990, the festival took place for the first time and five years later joined the list of the projects of Ars Baltica, a program for multilateral cultural cooperation within the Baltic Sea region, coordinated by the ministries of culture of the Baltic States.
Along with the representatives of Russia, EU countries, Azerbaijani musicians also achieved success at this festival held on April 6-11, 2010. Participants highly appreciated the performances by the students of music school named after Rostropovich Gunay Aghalarova (pianoforte) and Kamran Omerli (violin) headed by principal conductor Modestas Pitrenas accompanied by Kaunas Municipal Symphony Orchestra.
