White House: No classified information sent to private chat group on social media

"No “war plans” were discussed. No classified material was sent to the thread", White House Press Secretary Carolyn Livitt wrote this on her “X” account, APA reports.

This follows a confirmation from National Security Council spokesperson Brian Hagues, who said an American journalist had accidentally joined a secret chat group regarding the Yemen attacks. He added that an investigation is currently underway regarding the incident.

The National Security Council is investigating how Jeffrey Goldberg, editor of “The Atlantic,” was added to the group.

The group includes 18 people, including U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Vice President JD Vance, Middle East representative Steven Witkoff, National Security Advisor Michael Valls, and Homeland Security Advisor Steven Miller.

The chat involved active discussions about U.S. military operations in Yemen, including detailed plans regarding weapons, timing, and targets.
