Ukraine has attacked the Novokuybyshevsk oil refinery in Russia's Samara region using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), Ukraine's UNIAN news agency reports.
A major fire reportedly broke out on the refinery's premises as a result of the attack. Operations at Samara Airport were also restricted in connection with the incident.
According to the report, the Novokuybyshevsk oil refinery is one of the largest oil refining facilities in the Volga region. The refinery has an annual oil processing capacity of 8–9 million tons.
The facility produces fuel for road, air, rail and water transport, as well as lubricant components, bitumen, coke and petrochemical products.
According to claims by the Ukraine Context Telegram channel, which is close to Budanov, Kyiv refrained from attacking Russian oil refineries for two weeks in accordance with a promise made to its partners, but does not intend to extend the pause.
