Planting and sowing activities have so far been carried out on 610 hectares of forest land in Azerbaijan's liberated territories, Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Vugar Karimov said at a meeting of the Working Group on Environmental Issues of the Interdepartmental Center operating under the Coordination Headquarters established for the centralized resolution of issues in the liberated territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan, held in Aghdam on October 30, APA's Garabagh bureau reports.
He stated that the planting and sowing activities covered Jabrayil, Zangilan, Gubadli, Aghdara, Lachin and Fuzuli districts.
According to the Deputy Minister, as part of reforestation measures in the liberated territories, a total of 205 hectares of green areas have been established on land plots designated for the creation of new green belts in the territorial planning documents of Aghdam, Fuzuli, Jabrayil and Zangilan districts.
Vugar Karimov noted that these measures are being implemented taking into account plans to clear the territories of mines and unexploded ordnance.
Measures to restore ecosystems, protect biodiversity and expand green areas in the liberated territories are continuing.
