"US and Iranian representatives failed to reach an agreement during talks in Pakistan," said US Vice President James David Vance, APA reports.
"We had a number of substantive discussions with the Iranians. That's good news. The bad news is that we couldn't reach an agreement," Vance said.
The US vice president added that Washington still does not see Iran's willingness to give up its nuclear weapons development.
"We need a firm guarantee that they will not seek to develop nuclear weapons and that they will not seek to acquire the means to acquire nuclear weapons quickly. The question is: Not just now, not two years from now, but in the long term, do we see a willingness on their part not to develop nuclear weapons? We have not seen that, and we hope we will," Vance added.
He also said that the Iranian side rejected the US conditions in the Pakistan talks.
"We have made it very clear where our red lines are, why we are willing to accept them and why we are not willing to accept them, and we have made it as clear as possible. And they have chosen not to accept our terms," Vance said.
Vance also said that the US delegation had presented a final favorable offer to Iran.
