The US and Japan could jointly reach a deal on the development of hypersonic missile interceptors during an upcoming summit, the Yomiuri newspaper said on Sunday, APA reports.

According to the report, the leaders of the two nations, President Joe Biden and Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, are expected to announce the collaboration as part of their talks. The partnership aims to create a new missile defense system within the next decade.

In addition, the expected joint US-Japan effort in the development of hypersonic missile interceptors shows their response to the changing dynamics of global security and the race to counter hypersonic weapons technology.
