The United States and China have held highly successful talks on trade and artificial intelligence, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said, APA reports.
“We have just had very successful talks with the Chinese on trade and AI. We continued from where we left off in Beijing, where we established the Trade Council and began discussing AI. This evening, those topics moved into the practical stage,” Bessent told reporters.
According to the Treasury secretary, the sides discussed establishing an AI cooperation mechanism to be called the “US-China AI Dialogue.”
“The United States proposed creating an information-sharing mechanism between the two countries. We also want to develop a common understanding of objectives and threats,” he said.
Bessent added that the mechanism would provide for the exchange of information on potential AI-related incidents and threats at the national security level.
