The Washington administration believes a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelenskyy may soon take place, according to a spokesman for US President Donald Trump's administration, APA reports citing Axios.
"We are very close to a meeting between Putin and Zelenskyy," the source told Axios, adding that additional trilateral talks must be organized before that.
"We think we're not far from it. If we continue on our current course, we'll get there," he believes.
As the portal notes, the American administration believes that the trilateral negotiations between representatives of Russia, the United States, and Ukraine in Abu Dhabi (UAE) went "as well as [Washington] could have imagined."
"We're happy with where we are right now," Axios quotes a US official as saying.
