House Speaker Mike Johnson on Tuesday acknowledged that there’s a “high bar” to amend the Constitution so President Donald Trump could seek a third term and said that the president “recognizes the constitutional limitations,” APA reports citing NBC News.
“There’s a constitutional path, so you have to amend the Constitution to do it, and that’s a high bar,” Johnson, a former constitutional lawyer, told reporters during a news conference on Capitol Hill.
Johnson said that the president have “talked about this, joked about it” but added, “I think he recognizes the constitutional limitations, and I’m not sure that there’s a move about to amend the Constitution.”
