U.S. President Donald Trump has described the killing of Iranian General Qasem Soleimani as “one of the most significant events in the history of the Middle East,” APA reports.
According to Trump, Soleimani was one of the most feared individuals of the past 100 years and was treated with caution even by representatives of Iran’s top religious leadership.
The U.S. President stated that Soleimani had been preparing attacks against five U.S. military bases. Trump claimed that the operation that killed him was carried out about a week before the planned attacks.
Trump noted that the operation contributed to ensuring security in the region and preventing potential casualties.
It should be noted that Qasem Soleimani was killed in January 2020 in a U.S. airstrike near Baghdad, the capital of Iraq.
