US President Donald Trump believes the potential escalation of the conflict in Ukraine into World War III has been averted, APA reports.
"In my view, this could have led to World War III. It won't happen, but it could have," the American leader said during a meeting with reporters at the White House. He also reiterated his assertion that the conflict in Ukraine should never have started, but rather flared up due to "bad decisions" made, in particular, by the administration of his predecessor, Joe Biden.
Trump said he's working to resolve the Ukrainian crisis to "save souls." "I'm not doing this for us; there's an ocean between us. I'm doing this, in part, to help Europe. They want this to end, but they can't," the American leader continued, asserting that he "can do it." "I think we'll succeed," he emphasized.
