Trump calls idea of declaring the Strait of Hormuz American one excellent

US President Donald Trump said he is positive about the idea he voiced last week to declare the Strait of Hormuz a US territory, APA reports.

"I just think it's a great idea," the American leader said, responding to a White House reporter's request to clarify his intention to soon declare the Strait of Hormuz "U.S. territory." "We control it through the blockade. I like the idea of declaring it [U.S.] territory. We have complete control of the strait," the American president added.

"The Strait is open," Trump also asserted. "We're shipping millions of barrels of oil a week," he added, referring to shipments through the Strait of Hormuz. "Maybe that will stop. Or maybe it [the Strait] will open up even more," the American leader emphasized. Trump added in this regard that oil prices are falling and will continue to decline unless the United States decides "to do something much more radical." He did not specify what he meant.
