Three people were found dead in New York City on Saturday morning as temperatures fell below freezing, APA reports citing BBC.
The medical examiner’s office has not released an official cause of death for any of the three individuals – two men and one woman – who were found unresponsive in three separate incidents between Brooklyn and Manhattan, the New York Police Department confirmed to CNN. But each of the three people appeared to be homeless, an NYPD official confirmed.
Temperatures in the city dipped to 10 degrees Fahrenheit early Saturday and reached a high of 18 degrees in the afternoon.
On Thursday, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani activated a Code Blue, which legally requires social service programs to take in homeless people and provide shelter amid frigid temperatures.
