Roadmap agreed for final US-Iran deal within 60 days

A roadmap aimed at reaching a final agreement between the United States and Iran within 60 days has been agreed during talks held in Switzerland.

According to reports, the development was announced in a joint statement issued by the foreign ministries of Qatar and Pakistan, which served as mediators in the negotiations, following a meeting of the high-level committee established during the Swiss summit.

The statement noted that the summit was conducted in a positive and constructive atmosphere and resulted in encouraging progress, including the creation of a mechanism for the next round of technical negotiations.

The parties also agreed to establish a high-level committee that will provide political oversight of the mediation process.

"The high-level committee has agreed on a roadmap for achieving a final agreement within 60 days, paving the way for the immediate launch of the next round of technical negotiations. In addition, a communication channel has been established between the parties, as outlined in Article 5 of the Memorandum of Understanding, to prevent incidents and misunderstandings and ensure the safe passage of commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz," the statement said.

The mediators further highlighted that the parties and Lebanon had agreed, with mediator support, to create a conflict-prevention group aimed at ensuring compliance with the cessation of military operations in Lebanon.

"The mediating parties will continue to do everything possible to ensure that negotiations proceed in a constructive atmosphere and lead to the conclusion of a final agreement," the joint statement by the foreign ministries of Qatar and Pakistan added.
