Military aircraft at US Air Force bases in the continental United States remain vulnerable to possible attacks by kamikaze drones, Secretary of the Air Force Troy Meinck testified at a hearing of the Senate Appropriations Committee, APA reports.

"This is one of the most serious threats, especially in the continental United States, where until now we have considered these places as refuges [for aviation] and have not done much to protect against them, but the situation is changing rapidly," he said.

"We're in the process of selecting priority bases and starting to deploy equipment to, I think, about 14 bases that we're focused on in the near term, ranging from command, control, and monitoring systems to provide control around the base, as well as various types of weapons - kinetic, non-kinetic, and directed energy," the US Air Force Secretary concluded.
