The administration of US President Donald Trump has decided to recall 48 ambassadors from countries in Asia, Africa, Eastern Europe, and Central and South America, APA reports citing The New York Post (NY Post).
"This is standard procedure under any administration. <...> The ambassador is the president's personal representative, and the president has the authority to ensure the presence in these countries of individuals promoting the 'America First' agenda," the newspaper quotes a State Department spokesperson as saying.
The Trump administration has not yet appointed permanent heads of diplomatic missions in countries that are key US partners, the publication noted. Specifically, there are no American ambassadors in Australia, Germany, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, or Ukraine.
